The Project  • The Friends of Andover Tennis is a private group of tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, including community activists and leaders; business leaders; parents of past, present, and future AHS tennis players; and current AHS students, players, and coaches.  • Our goal is a tennis facility that our high school teams and the Andover tennis playing community can enjoy and be proud of. The existing high school courts, used from March through November, were built 22 years ago and are in terrible condition. We are raising funds to resurface and reconfigure the AHS tennis courts, improve their leveling, remove hazardous cracks and berms, and fill in unpaved areas between the edge of the asphalt area and the fence. • The renovated area with new netposts and nets will include a comfortable amount of space between the reconfigured courts, a periphery accommodating team members and spectators, and QuickStart lines for summertime youth tennis instruction. The area will accommodate the maximum possible number of concurrent players. Our fundraising target is $300,000. Our construction target is the summer of 2013. The project incurs no cost toward a preliminary study:We will use the existing footprint and foundation. Funds that are raised will cover materials and labor.
