Local activity in Herts: • Herts CC has embraced self-management. • In conjunction with Crossroads they set up Book Your Own Breaks so Carers could book breaks on their own terms: www.bookyourownbreaks.com • This service has expanded to: • Enable carers who want to book volunteer sitters through Breakaway • Launch a respite bed marketplace in conjunction with HCPA • Underpin timebanking pilots in North Herts and Watford and Hertsmere

Local uses in Volunteering: • The Volunteer Centres • To underpin a new initiative called Skillsshare where small businesses can book local volunteers to help them. • West Hertfordshire Hospitals • Transport • Companionship • Other services like covering reception • The Fire Service • Fire Safety awareness • Home Safety Checks • Security Checks
