  2. Global AIDS Alliance • Non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. • Mission: to mobilize the political will and resources needed to slow and eventually stop the HIV/AIDS pandemic • Media outreach, coalition building, public education and grassroots mobilization

  3. GAA’s Grassroots Advocacy Network • Approximately 300 individuals/organizations nationwide • Professionals and general public • Mission: to advocate at local, state, and/or national levels for strong, comprehensive HIV/AIDS policy

  4. Project: Grassroots Advocacy Toolkit • A comprehensive guide for the grassroots network • Will include guidelines and step-by-step instructions on how to be an effective grassroots advocate • Will contain background information on the AIDS epidemic

Advocacy Guide • Contents • EPIC laser talks • Ask a question at a Town Hall meeting • Write a letter to the editor • Write a letter to your member of Congress • Cyberadvocacy • Generate an editorial • Speak to a local community group • Influencing your Congressperson • Meet with your member of Congress • Reaching out to community groups
