AYP 2009 – WILL WE MAKE IT??? This table shows AYP data and targets for the current 2008-2009 Senior Cohort. The number in the parenthetical indicates where we currently stand. The number before the parenthetical reveals the number we must have in order to meet AYP without safe harbor or the confidence interval.
This slide shows current juniors who have taken an H S A test. There are more juniors who will be taking H S As for the first time as seniors. Many interventions will need to be in place to support them.
This slide represents the status of the current junior class. This slide is more comprehensive in that it indicates that Einstein must address special education, ELL, African American and Hispanic participation and performance. More than 50 percent – and in some cases 70 percent – of these populations may be in jeopardy of not meeting AYP.
Number of Students Earning At Least One 3 On AP Exam or One 4 On IB Exam in May 2008 The AP grading scale is 1-5, with 3 considered passing. The IB grading scale is 1-7, with 4 considered passing.
Percent of Students Earning At Least One 3 On AP Exam or One 4 On IB Exam in May 2008 This slide shows the percentage of students who took AP and/or IB exams in May 2008 and earned a “passing” score (3 on AP or 4 on IB) on at least one AP or IB exam. Experiencing advanced courses and testing helps prepare students for success in college.
Students Earning the IB Diploma – Class of 2008 There were 40 IB diploma candidates in the class of 2008. An additional 31 seniors took one or more IB classes as IB certificate candidates. Thirty juniors took IB exams as either diploma or certificate candidates.
Percent of Students Earning the IB Diploma – Class of 2008 At AEHS 85% of the 2008 IB diploma candidates succesfully earned the IB diploma. Worldwide 79 % of IB diploma candidates were awarded the IB diploma in May 2008.
Number of Students Taking At Least 1 AP Course or 1 IB Course2008-2009 A total of 571 students across all 4 grades are enrolled in at least 1 AP or IB class. Students are encouraged to participate in more challenging classes to grow academically.
Percent of Students Taking At Least 1 AP Course or 1 IB Course2008-2009 Thirty-six percent of all students are enrolled in at least one AP or IB course. IB classes and most AP classes are only available to juniors and seniors, but 9th graders can take AP US History and 10th graders take AP NSL.
SAT Scores by Race We attribute the increase in SAT scores to mentoring efforts and the implementation of pull-out practice sessions using the Triumph program. Information Provided by MCPS
Attendance This chart shows attendance rates by subgroup and by grade level.
Suspension Data As of Jan. 1, 2009, only 21 students had been suspended. This represents a dramatic decrease from the previous year at this time when 123 students had been suspended. We attribute the decrease to students and staff support of the tenets of The Einstein Way.
Ineligibility Percentages This data is from the end of the 1st quarter and this slide is showing the percentage of students who were ineligible by subgroup.
