  1. 3 Years Without Shampoo: What Have I Learned? I left shampooing two and a half years ago when I posted about it on Facebook. However, I was an infant in this game then! This is what I knew about it at that time: “You may have some bad hair day, or you don’t want to wash your hair at all! Instead of using shampoo, apply baking soda to your hair, rinse it out, and then apply apple cider vinegar to your hair; rinse it out. Repeat every 5–7 days, washing just with water in between.” I have learned a lot in the past 3 years. Before finding Raleigh hair salons and getting a new hairstyle, remember these things you need to know before adopting something new. #1 Your Hair Will Look Just Fine My hair is significantly smoother and fluffier than it used to be after almost three years without shampoo. I never use any products for my hair; all I do is blow-dry it, and it remains in flawless waves all day. My hair is also many shades blonder than I anticipated, to the point that people often wonder if this is my natural hair color. It also gives me confidence in my appearance. #2 Shampoo Can Be Dangerous!

  2. Remember pH from chemistry class in high school? If you don’t, here’s a quick summary. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. Water has a neutral pH of 7, but anything below it is acidic, and anything above it is alkaline. Your scalp must be mildly acidic so that bacteria and fungi stay away. Your scalp’s pH stays steady, and oil output stays down when you use baking soda (a base) followed by apple cider vinegar (an acid). Your hair will stay healthier for longer. #3 Enjoy Beautiful Hair at Your Fingertips You will need your fingernails along with baking soda and Apple Cider Vinegar in this process. When you’re using just water, your fingertips will do the shampoo job to help flush a little hair gunk out. I start with a small section of my scalp and gently scratch it in, then go on to another small area, gently scratch it in, and so on until my whole head is cleaned. #4 Maintain the 50/50 Rule Fill a glass halfway with baking soda and halfway with water. Load a second container halfway with apple cider vinegar and halfway with water. Now, take the bottles to the bathroom with you. This will give you the ideal amount you need. Don’t forget to shake the mixes well before using them on your hair. You’ve got the right to use as much as you can, unlike shampooing. Besides all of these you can also look for hair salon services. #5 Sweating is bad Usually, using baking soda and vinegar once a week would be enough. However, if you’re someone who works in an environment (hot & humid) where you sweat a lot, you may require more than one wash a week. However, you need not do it more than twice a week. #6 Enjoy Good Scents When I’m outside, people constantly praise my hair. Some also try to hide their noses in a stranger’s (me) hair. It really happens often, that’s why I’m telling it. Most of the time, I reply with, “Well, let me tell you a nice secret!”
