  3. Web 1.0 (1990’s) Online advertising was also born with services like linkexchange.com and amazon.com, making money online was now a viable business model for the internet. Email marketing was born, unfortunately most of it was spam. In March 15, 1985 the first “.com” domain name was born symbolics.com but it wasn’t until the early 90’s when browser called Mosaic changed advertising forever and then Netscape brought the internet mainstream. Advertising all changed with the birth of the browser.

  4. Web 2.0 (2000’s) Idealab came up with the idea pay-per-click marketing and Google made it a BILLION dollar business. The rest of the traditional medium is growing up: iTunes.com (audio) Youtube.com (video) Admob.com (mobile) Websites (become two way streets where people converse, sites like twitter, facebook, orkut, myspace, diggand many more) An entire advertising industry was born called PPC (Pay Per Click) and online marketing is on it’s way You business has to change because the conversation has changed

Planning Starts With Today • Where are your current efforts? • What results do you want? • What can you do online? • Who are you online? • Who do you want to be? • What are people saying? • Who’s your audience? • Where are they coming from? Take inventory of where you are with your online prescense and where you’re starting from, there’s a lot of learning to do from this day forward…

Listening to what people are saying about you and adjusting positively is the only key to the game.“Content is not King” “Customer Service is King” LISTEN TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT YOU…shhhh! REALITY CHECK Check website stats Where are they coming from? Who’s coming? Check email stats Got a list? Auto-responders? Newsletters? Check on backlinks Who’s linking to you? Why are they linking? Check on rankings Alexa Google Compete Quantcast FULL ANALYSIS Check the foundation, how is it? Customer service is king! Get your act together or else…

Your Sample Social Media Plan • What is your goal? • What is your audience? • What are the tools that you’re going to need? • What is the message you want to convey? • What measureable results/milestones will be tracked from start to finish? • What resources are you going to need? • Can we get started today… A clear and simple plan that everyone understands will take you far, KISS (keep it simple stupid)
