Objectives – We will: • Predict how a war could hurt and help a country • Identify how certain groups were affected by the war • Evaluate whether or not this group experienced WWII as a “good war” • Demonstrate our understanding by categorizing and sorting oral histories by group affected • Demonstrate our understanding by writing a postcard to a solider fighting in Asia or Europe.

  8. 9.10 How did WWII affect people living in the USA? USA fought in WWII: December 8, 1941 – August 15, 1945 Rationing – allowed only a small amount of something, usually during war. Gas was rationed in NYC during Hurricane Sandy – cars with even license plates could only get gas on certain days.

Expert Group • Read the article alone. • Write down your answers to questions 1-3 on a piece of recycled paper. • Share your answers with your group in a Round Robin format: • One at a time, in a circle • No one interrupts • No one passes…say, “I also think that…” 4) Agree about what you should write on your worksheet. 5) Have Ms. Trono check your responses before you write it in your worksheet.

  20. Do Now – 4/10/13 Compare and contrast two of the groups you learned about yesterday by drawing a Venn Diagram. Put at least 2 things in each part of the circle. If you were absent yesterday, please ask Ms. Trono for a handout to read.
