  1. The Club Located at the heart of the city’s equestrian community, the Club is a non-profit society that serves riders and horse lovers of all ages and interests — from grass roots to Grand Prix. We are also home to groups that cater to youth, riders with special needs, and recreational trail riders. The Club encourages volunteer participation to keep our membership dues affordable, and welcomes visitors at our many public events. Our clubhouse and riding facilities are frequently used by community groups such as Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities, Vancouver Pony Club, the Southlands Ratepayers Association and the Southlands/UEL Trail Riders. A volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership, guides the society’s operations, and the facility’s day to day functions are overseen by an on-site Manager and staff.

  5. Membership At Southlands Riding Club we welcome horse lovers of all ages and interests. The majority of our riding members participate in Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, Eventing and pleasure riding. As well as full riding memberships in various age categories, other options are available for part time riders who lease their horses and for non-riding members. Visiting riders are welcome to use Club facilities by paying a guest fee. A waiver of liability must be signed by anyone riding at the Club. Each year, the Club presents a full schedule of schooling shows, clinics, educational seminars and major competitions. Participants come from throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Washington State. Spectators are always encouraged.

  6. Membership Southlands Riding Club is a riding facility with no horses living on site, and so is not able to offer public lesson programs, trail riding or horse rentals. Several of the stables in the surrounding neighbourhood do offer riding lessons and summer camps. Southlands supports horse lovers under the age of 21 with an active Junior/Intermediate Committee, and also hosts meetings, training sessions and competitions for the Vancouver Pony Club. The Rusty Stirrup Club is a group of "vintage" riders (40+) who get together on a regular basis — at SRC and at other venues — to share a love of horses, ride in a non-competitive atmosphere, to learn, have fun with their horses, and socialize with like-minded adults. Non-riders and parents of our younger members are welcome.

  7. Instruction Instruction is available at the club from certified professional trainers specializing in Dressage, Hunter, Jumper and Equitation. In order to take instruction at the Club, riders must be members or pay the guest rider fee. SRC does not offer horse rentals or a public lesson program, though several of the club's instructors are able to provide horses for their clients. Each instructor coordinates and schedules his or her own lessons, and should be contacted directly for rates and availability. All SRC Instructors are Equine Canada Certified Coaches, and hold insurance and First Aid certification. Only those sanctioned by the Board of Directors are permitted to teach on the grounds, with the exception of coaching participants at events open to the public.

  8. Facility The Clubs Riding facilities are on 16 acres of land. The grounds are open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and rings are equipped with lights for evening riding. The facilities are used 365 days of the year by our riding members and visitors, and grounds staff groom the riding surfaces daily. The clubhouse, frequently used by community groups such as the Southlands Ratepayers Association, Vancouver Pony Club, and Southlands/UEL Trail Riders, is available for rental and can accommodate groups of up to 75. Please contact the Club Manager to inquire about renting any of our facilities.
