  2. Jan. 9, 2012 • What laws made segregation the law in the South? • What court case involved a black man in Louisiana refusing to move from a “whites only” railway car. He was arrested, and his case went to the Supreme Court where it ruled that segregation was legal and not unconstitutional as long as things were separate but equal. • What word means to take the right of voting away from a person or group? 4. List three ways African Americans voting rights were restricted. 5. Many whites in Georgia could not meet the voting qualifications just as most African Americans couldn’t. What was passed to ensure whites kept their right to vote by stating if someone in their family had the right to vote before 1867 they could vote without meeting the voting requirements?
