Horrors of the Holocaust: Unimaginable Cruelty and Loss of Hope

Elie Wiesel's harrowing account in "Night" depicts the unimaginable cruelty witnessed during the Holocaust, where even infants were thrown into flames. The loss of hope is vividly portrayed through Mrs. Schachter's separation from her family, leading to hysterical breakdowns. The atrocities faced by the victims highlight the depths of human suffering and despair.

  2. Cruelty “ a truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes… children being thrown into flames”.( Wiesel 32) Elie and his father were sent to the left side and they did not know whether the left was good or not. They were heading towards the crematorium when they seen the truck and the babies being thrown into the fire. This shows cruelty because it just does , I mean come on BABIES ARE BEING THROWN IN FIRRRRRRREEEEEE.

  3. Loss Of Hope “she kept asking why she had been separated from here family. Later her sobs and screams became hysterical”. ( WIESEL 24) Mrs. Schachter’s husband and two older sons had been deported. She had lost her mind and her hope. At one point she kept yelling “fire” she obviously lost hope because she just constantly had breakdowns.
