  1. Track & Field Report 2009 AGM Mike Frost, Acting Head Coach

  2. Track & Field Training • Calendar structure in place has been quite easy to manage in liaison with Stockport Harriers and Sportcity who provide facility availability times. This has been updated on a 6 – 8 week basis and has been uploaded to the website. • Saturday mornings continue to grow and bring new faces in however we need to ensure that the induction process is clear and we are not missing members and we continue to bring revenue in. Geoff continues to finance this venture which will carry on for the first time all the way through the summer this year. I think the club should consider taking the financial responsibility for this session as it is the clubs main training session currently • Geoff & David to Report on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s

  3. Championships & Open Meetings • 5 Athletes attended the Greater Manchester County Championships • 29 Athletes attended the DASH Quadrathlon last weekend • Open meetings including warrington / trafford have been promoted by DASH and attended by club members • Number of Athletes become first claim for Sale Harriers and compete in the Young Athletes League & Other relevant competitions for Sale and the Cheshire League for DASH. Personal view is this works well as athletes can access higher level competition where required and eases the pressure on DASH joining the YAL as we are not currently in a position to do so. • Time has limited the amount of planning that has gone into promoting these events however information has been on the calendar and a dedicated track and field coordinator for 2010 should hopefully be able to commit to chasing up athletes for competitions and events and ensuring athletes are competing at the right level.

  4. Cheshire League 2009 Round 1 Small attendance we are hoping for more in latter rounds including this week at Crewe. We currently have squad lists including • 6 Under 11 Boys 5 Under 11 Girls • 8 Under 13 Girls 17 Under 13 Boys • 9 + 1 Injured Under 15 Girls 9 Under 15 Boys • 5 Under 17 Men • 8 + 1 Injured Lady (7 are under 17’s) • 12 Men (4 Under 20)

  5. A Look Ahead – Short TERM • Short Term Aims Suggested – Increase numbers competing in Track and field in the summer and winter seasons • Ensure Athletes are aware of opportunities available to them • Ensure Athletes are aware of the Club induction Process and membership categories – i suggest a cover letter with ALL membership forms explaining first and second claim etc.. To be advised by England Athletics.

  6. A Look Ahead – Medium / Long Term • Continually Increase membership • Sustain increased numbers training for track and field athletics • Join another League - YAL? (if membership demands this).
