Sharing Files and Collaborating Online • The cloud is a powerful computer server on the internet giving you the capability to: • Store and share files • Access data, applications and resourcesfrom any device that has internet access • SkyDrive is free storage provided in the could by Microsoft. • SkyDrive is like having a personal hard drive in the cloud. • Office Web Apps (SkyDrive apps or Office 365 apps) are versions of Microsoft Office applications with basic functionality. Overview of Office 365 and Office on Demand • Office 365 is a subscription to Microsoft cloud services. • There are plans for home and business users. • Pricing and installation options differ for each plan. • Office on Demand is a benefit of some Office 365 subscription plans allowing you to access Office programs from any computer. • To subscribe to Office 365, you need a Microsoft account. Microsoft Accounts • A Microsoft account is a free account you can create that associates your email address and a password with Microsoft cloud services. • You may already have an account if you have one of the following: • a subscription to Office 365 • a Hotmail or live.com email account • a SkyDrive account or an Xbox account • a Windows Phone or a windows 8 user account New Perspectives on Microsoft Office 2013
