The Duties and Responsibilities of a Johnston Police Officer include, but are not limited to, the following: • Be accountable. • Respond to all required assignments.  • Acquire and record all information necessary to document the provisions of police services. • Complete all documentation in a timely and reasonable manner. • Ensure that any property seized is done so by way of established policy and procedure. • Maintain weapons and equipment in a functional, presentable condition. Provide assistance to citizens. • Preserve the peace. • Serve and/or deliver warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and other official papers as provided by law. • Take part and assist in prosecutorial actions. • Avoid use of excessive force or the appearance of bias or prejudice when dealing with the public.   • Any other duties assigned by the Chief of Police. • Always maintain professionalism and ethics. Written Examination Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 0830 am Johnston Senior High School, located at 345 Cherry Hill Road, Johnston, Rhode Island Exam will consist of 100 multiple choice questions and writing sample NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED in testing area unless emergency situation is identified; must be cleared with proctor of the exam. Bring your licensewith you. You must receive a 70% or better to pass The Johnston Police Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer

Written Examination Scores will be posted in the PoliceApp web portal Upon receiving a 70% or better on the written exam you will receive notification for continuation to the next phase Upon receiving less than a 70% percentile grade you will receive a rejection notice The Johnston Police Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer

JPD Pre-Physical Agility Test • Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 8:30 am • Location: RIC, Rhode Island College Recreation Center • Attire: Solid colored white t-shirt, Solid colored navy-blue gym shorts, white socks and proper athletic sneakers. Bring your license with you. • Water bottles, keys and sport wrist watches are allowed in gym.   17. 1 Minute Push - up Measures muscular endurance of upper body. Measures force the upper body can generate. Performed for a duration of 60 seconds, or until failure without break in proper form. Score is calculated by the number of push ups performed in one minute. Upper body strength is important in performing police related tasks.   29. RIMPTA Swim Test Academy Basic Water Rescue Program Must successfully swim 100 yards continuously using 50 yards of an approach stroke. Crawl/Breast Stroke 50 yards of a tow stroke, side stroke or Elementary Back Stroke Tread water for 1 minute Surface dive 7’ and retrieve a 10 lb. object Swim 15’ or 2.5 body lengths underwater.
