  11. What else is different from elementary school? • Fresh baked cookies every day! • The number of students in each grade! • We don’t line up very often! • Lockers! • Lunch! • 8:25-3:21! • 7 classes, different rooms and teachers! • Your child!!!!!

  12. From “The Forgotten Middle” The level of academic achievement that students attain by 8th grade has a larger impact on their college and career readiness by the time they graduate high school than anything that happens academically in high school.

  14. Full Year (36 weeks): Concert Band 7 Orchestra 7 Semester (18 weeks): Art * PE * (Required Elective) Technical Education* Family & Consumer Science* World Languages & Cultures Drama 7 Choir 7 (By choice only) All courses dependent on enrollment and other factors. 7th Grade Elective Courses

  15. 7th and 8th Intervention Courses We often “double dose” students in Math and/or Language Arts by enrolling them in our regular grade level Math or Language Arts courses plus another period of Intervention Math or Intervention Language Arts (Reading). This Intervention class takes the place of one of the elective classes. We similarly use Learning Strategies classes to provide additional support for some students.

Wayne’s Welcome:Fall Registration/Orientation Day Thursday, Aug. 10, 8:00-1:00 & 4:00-6:30 • Proof of immunization • Confirm contact info in Jeffco Connect • School bus schedule • Lunch accounts • School picture and photo ID • Student Schedule • Locker Also, our first full day of classes is a 7th grade only day. Students go through a shortened version of their schedule and have a variety of orientation activities.

Choice Enrollment • If you live outside the elementary attendance area of . . . • Lukas • Meiklejohn • Witt • ….you may pick up a registration packet and choice enrollment form at the registration information table in the back of the room. • Also, see Ms. Cancellieri or Ms. Chandler near the main office if you need a choice application.
