  3. Mission Statement/Goals • Use Technology, hands-on, activities, worksheets, and the text book to teach mathematics. • Make math fun and interesting. • Relate math to “real life” • Use math to solve problems • Have a well disciplined classroom that wants to learn. • Treat all students with respect. • Treat all students equally (follow the school discipline policy fairly).

  4. 2 Most Important Rules • BE NICE!!! • WORK HARD!!!

  5. Classroom Rules • Listen Carefully (No talking while the teacher is talking!!!!!!!!!). • Follow directions (First time given). • Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working. • Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions. • Respect our classroom and its contents. Do not damage or write on your desk or text books. • Follow the school-wide discipline policy.

  7. Homework Expectations • Homework will be assigned every night • Homework is worth 20% of your grades • Homework must be done in pencil • Show all of your work or • you will not get credit!!!!! • Be neat. Do not copy from a friend. Copying from a friend is cheating, not learning.

  8. Special Projects • Each 9 weeks we will be completing at least one project. • Projects will be graded using a scoring rubric. • Everyone will be using IXL.com this year in math. • IXL.com will count as a project grade as well.

  9. Late Work Policy Assignments will not be accepted late. Projects will be accepted late with a loss of one letter grade per-day.

  10. Absent Work • When you are absent, it is your responsibility to get all late work. • Check the agenda for missing assignments. • Get any worksheets from the box on the front counter. • Get notes, bellwork, and other information from my class binder.

  11. Grading • Grades are a way for teachers, parents and students to monitor how well students are doing in class. Your grades in middle school are very important to securing your future in high school and college. • Students and parents will be able to view grades online this year using parent portal. • Grades this year impact next year’s math placement. Two periods of math will be assigned to failing students!!!! TCAP does count as a grade! • Homework 20%, Tests 45%, Quizzes 35%

  12. Miscellaneous Procedures • Please help yourself to tissues and hand sanitizer. • Use wipes to clean your desk often. • If you feel like you have to throw-up please RUN to the bathroom, you can ask for a pass later!!!! • Use pencil sharpener during class switch or in an emergency when teacher is not teaching. • You get two tardy passes per semester, use them wisely.

  13. Communication • Parent conferences will be set up after the first and second semesters. • Individual conferences will be set up on an as needed basis. • Conferences will cover your academic progress for the previous semester and will discuss any problems/concerns/achievements in the classroom. • You can contact me for help on homework or other issues by email terri.callister@sumnerschools.org • You can check my website at http://callist3r.wordpress.com
