The Concept • Thedurationoftheprojectisthreeyears • The KNOWBRIDGE project deals particularly with two border administrative regions – Košice self-governing regionin Slovakia and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén region in Hungary, although considered in the larger territorial perspective as a part of Eastern Slovakia and North-Eastern Hungary • these two regions have very strong economic, social and geographical links Ing. The main objective • of the KNOWBRIDGE project is to increase the capacity and to strengthen the research potential of two cross-border and convergence regions by supporting the development of new innovative crossborder research-driven cluster in the area of Renewable EnergySources (RES) and associating research entities, enterprises and regional authorities. KNOWLEDGE project specific objectives: • to develop Join Action Plan (JEP) • to foster cross border cooperation and to increase the overall capacities • to maximise the benefits of research infrastructures • to improve links and enhance common partnership • to promote development of specific goals • to exploitsynergyand to maximise the potential • to enhance trans-national, including cross-border and inter-regional mutual learning • to mentor regions • to promote reduction of CO2 emissions Ing.   7. The KNOWBRIDGE project partly builds on the results of previous EC funded NORRIS project. The key document s of the NORRIS project is the “Interregional innovation strategy of Northern Hungary and of the Košice region 2008 -2013” with an aim to increase competitiveness of the both regions and to cross-border regional and economic cohesion. • One of the three initiatives (projects) agreed in the interregional innovation strategyis: „Establishing of energetic interregional cluster“ Ing.   8. The KNOWBRIDGE project is built on 9 Work packages: • WP1. Project Management • WP2. Methodology • WP3. Analysis and Integration of Research Agendas of Cross-Border Cluster • WP4. Benchmarking and Good Practices Transfer • WP5. Definition of Joint Action Plan • WP6. Definition of Business Plans • WP7. Mentoring and Mutual Learning • WP8. Dissemination and Awareness Raising • WP9. Monitoring, Review and Assessment Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

  9. WP1 and WP9 • are focused on managerial issues and will enable smooth and efficient project activities implementation and high quality deliverables elaboration. WP9 will set up quality procedures, risk analysis and contingency plan. Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

  10. WP2 - Methodology • is aimed: • to provide overall methodological and reference frameworks and methodological tools; • to define common research framework; • to develop the approach to task solving; • to define and coordinate methodology for benchmarking and cross regional analysis and • to ensure the acceptance of the methodology by all WPs. • WP2 creates a foundation for the further development of WPs.   11. WP3 and WP4 • will prepare analysis and reports for further work within WP5, WP6, WP7 and WP8. The WP3 is aimed to cover all analyses, which will be needed within the project, except economic and financial analyses within WP6 – Business plan. These economic and financial analyses will be chosen after the finalisation of JAP. WP4 will carry out benchmarking and identify the best practices and prepare the SWOT analysis. Ing.   12. WP5 and WP6 • are devoted to JAP and Business Plan for RES cross-border cluster design. WP7 • enables mentoring and mutual learning Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008

  13. WP8 • is the Dissemination and Awareness Raising – it is aimed to guarantee full use of dissemination and exploitation opportunities of KNOWBRIDGE project results. Ing. Ladislav Suhányi, Herľany 2008
