  10. Initiatives 1. TORCH RELAY • 70 days in May to July 2012 (includes Diamond Jubilee) • 1 hour of 95% of the UK • Outreach through (ecumenical) festival • Prayer & intercession • 8,000 Torchbearers (50%+ to be 12-24 yr olds)

Initiatives 100 Days of Peace • 776BC– pause from endless cycle of war and violence • Peace- Underlying purpose of original Games • 1993– UN A/RES/48/11 “pursue initiatives for peace & reconciliation” ‘abide by the Truce, individually and collectively, and pursue the peaceful settlement of all international conflicts’

  17. What you can do • Hold Peace Games, rewarding teamwork and cooperation • Peace Walls to commemorate the Games • Create Partner Schools from abroad • Hold a Peace Music Festival • Plant special Trees or Plants

  18. Plan a Peace Project (such as a mural, making a film, service to the elderly) with a school not normally linked with • Make a Resource for Newcomers to the school in September 2012. Highlight Peace aspects of the school’s activity • Or make your own Peace Games plan and send it to the website - www.peacelegacy.org.uk
