Fuel Expenses • Average annual kilometers accumulated by taxicabs is 112,612 in 2007 • In 2007 the local taxicab industry averages 10 litres per 100km traveled = 11,261 litres/taxi • The cost of fuel in 2007 at $1.17 per litre is $13,175 • In 2005 local taxicab industry averaged 20 litres per 100km = 20,600 litres/taxi (based on an average of 103,000 km traveled) • The cost of fuel in 2005 was $1.00 per litre for a total of $20,600. • Average Fuel expenses decreased 36% from $20,600 in 2005 to $13,175 in 2007

  6. Vehicle Purchasing Cost • 2008 Toyota Prius is approximately $27,600 • $2000 rebate on purchase of new hybrid • Over a four year financing period at 5.9%, vehicle adds approx. $7,800 to annual taxicab costs.

What’s new… • There are 227 hybrid vehicles :222 Toyota Prius’ & 5 Ford Escapes • Province of Manitoba introduced a financial incentive program 2 years ago to encourage purchase of hybrid • $2000 rebate on purchase of a new hybrid vehicle • In addition there are over 100 mid-sized vehicles used as taxicabs • All Taxicabs must be capable of carrying 4 passengers and have 15 cubic feet of cargo space
