The Omicron variant was found in a 37-year-old man who came from Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 25. His 38-year-old friend, who came from USA on the same day has also tested positive for the Omicron variant. Both the patients have been admitted at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai. Reportedly, the duo has no symptoms and has taken Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. With this, the tally of people infected with the new strain has gone up to 10 in Maharashtra. Underlining the sudden spike in children getting infected with Omicron in African countries, the IMA has said that the government should expedite the proposal for vaccination of children aged from 12-18 years at the earliest.
