Timand Bates Former Associate Dean of Students at Bard College
Timand Bates dedicated many years to Bard College, where he held a range of leadership roles, including Associate Dean of Students, Assistant Dean, and Senior Mentor in the Master of Arts in Teaching program.
In these capacities, he advanced student retention initiatives, strengthened diversity and inclusion efforts, and guided numerous students through their academic journeys and personal growth.
Timand Bates’s deep commitment to mentorship and community engagement has remained a defining feature of his career.
In addition to his administrative leadership, he has been a devoted educator, teaching through the Bard Prison Initiative as well as at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA). Academically, Timand Bates earned a Master of Arts in the Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Literature from Bard College.
