Timand Bates Former Associate Dean of Students at Bard College
Timand Bates is a seasoned educator and program manager with over 20 years of experience in secondary, higher, and global education.
Most recently, he served as Program Manager at the Open Society University Network (OSUN), where he led an $850,000 grant initiative to expand synchronous liberal arts courses to students in 45 institutions worldwide.
Timand Bates’s leadership resulted in a 140% increase in student enrollment and a 120% rise in faculty participation in a single year. Previously, he served as Associate Dean of Students at Bard College, where he advanced student success, retention, and civic engagement.
Timand Bates has also taught in U.S. correctional facilities, refugee camps in Bangladesh, and higher education institutions in Central Asia.
With an M.A. in Teaching of English from Columbia University and a B.A. in Languages and Literature from Bard College, Timand Bates blends academic rigor with a commitment to inclusive, global education.
