  2. 2004 – 5 sites, 160 children • 2005 – 11 sites, 800 children • 2006 – 19 sites, 856 children • 2007 – 19 sites, 920 children • 2008 – 49 sites, 2,118 children • 2009 – 72 sites, 2,951 children & teens • 2010 – 95 sites, 4,555 children & teens • 2011 – 118 sites, 5,636 children & teens • 2012 – 111 sites, 5,750 children & teens

Developing Your Outreach Program • Program Examples • Daycare – Storytime, Music, and Take-home Activity • Daycare – Participant Tracking Sheets • Daycamp – Storytime and Craft or Game • Daycamp– Program Tub with Complete Lesson Plan, including Books and Craft or Activity • Summer School – Participant Tracking Sheets, Lesson Plans and Minimal Supplies for Activities • Teen Program – Book Club and Participant Tracking Sheets • All sites have option to use a collection of rotated books

Partnership Letter • Outline the partner's commitment of providing access to their program participants. • Identify the ages and approximate numbers of kids that attend the site/program in the summer. • Times that work best for programming. • Description of the role that the site will play in the project. • staff assistance while Library is at the site, • space to meet with the kids, • a commitment to encourage reading and reading related activity time for the kids when the Library isn’t at the site. Johnson and Linda Michelin • Amy’s Light by Robert Nutt • Supplies for Firefly Picture: • Pipecleaners • Construction paper • Tacky glue • Q-tips • Ink pad • Wet wipes • Glue trays • Procedures:Remind the children that we’ve been talking about big dreams. Explain to the children that the books that we will be reading today are all about the night time. Ask the children the following question:What happens during the night time? • Blackout Introduce the book to the children by reading the title and showing the children the illustration on the cover of the book. Ask the children the following questions:What is the Caldecott Medal? Who receives the Caldecott Medal? * The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the artist (illustrator) of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Explain to the children that the book contains detailed pictures and little text. The pictures help to tell the story. Read the book to the children. While reading be sure to periodically stop and ask the children questions about the story. Program Plan
