Unlawful for a Responsible Body to……… • Treat a student ‘less favourably’ than others for a reason directly related to their disability • Fail to make a ‘reasonable adjustment’ to ensure that they are not placed at a ‘substantial disadvantage’ for a reason relating to their disability • Single Equality Policy to ensure inclusion for all

  3. Accessibility strategy: * To increase ability to participate in and access the curriculum * To improve physical environment of education and associated services * To improve delivery of information to students

  6. LS DEPT • Identify students with SEND and place them on the LS register - Statement (13), SA+(80), SA(32) • Alert and ensure all staff recognise and understand their students needs • Ensure all students receive the necessary support • to access the curriculum

  7. All students with SEND experience: • Frustrations concerning their own difficulties. • Poor self esteem • Low self confidence • Slow processing skills • Poor short term memory • Weak organisational skills

  8. AS - Autistic Spectrum SpLD – Specific Learning SLC - Speech, Language, Communication BESD - Behavioural, Emotional, Social DCD - Developmental Co-ordination ADHD - Attention Deficit, Hyperactivity ODD -Oppositional Defiance VI - Visually Impaired PI - Physically Impaired SEND DIAGNOSES

  9. Teacher/TA partnership • Important to work as a team together to help the student achieve their full potential • Enabling students greater independence • Building self confidence and esteem • Ensuring their specific needs are understood and met both in and out of the classroom
