Why are we here?UoL Strategic Plan • Strategic Plan 2009-2014: Improving Research Performance and Driving Knowledge Exchange– Planned outcomes: • Increased impact of pure and translational research • • Higher numbers of staff, students and alumni involved in knowledge exchange activities reflecting our strengths • • Demonstrable impact on economic growth, improved public policy, improved quality of life • A strong relationship with the city and wider public through lectures, exhibitions, performances and other events

What do we hope to achieve? • Better understanding of what is meant by impact in different contexts • Appreciation of wide range of impacts already demonstrated by UoL staff • Understanding of external context and drivers affecting different external organisations • Staff engagement and desire to maximise impact of research and KE activities
