  1. Link Aggregation Member Interface Status Signal(draft-zi-pwe3-link-aggr-member-status-00.txt)IETF 64 Author: Zi Kang zikang@huwei.com Presentation: Li Guanfeng liguanfeng@huawei.com

  2. motivation • When truck is used as attached circuit of PW, if some of the member port fails, PE’s should know the status of trunk member in the other side of PW and then take proper action. • This draft describes a solution to transmitting the information of trunk member.

  3. When trunk acts as AC • PWE3 ordinary requires the two attached circuits having the same bandwidth. • Trunk requires all of it member have the same type and bandwidth. • So when trunks act as attached circuit of PWE3, they should have the same count of member and active status.

  4. use case • Switch A connects with PEA by 2 100M Ethernet port, all of these two ports are the member of trunk. Switch B is same as Switch A. All of these four ports are active and work normal. • Setup a PW from PEA to PEB to link these two trunks, the total available bandwidth is 200M.

  5. use case • If a Ethernet port is fail, one AC is 100M, the other AC is still 200M, but the available bandwidth is 100M. • PEB knows the current available bandwidth is 100M but PEA does not know. So maybe half of the traffic is discarded by PEB.

  6. solution • Introduce a new TLV. • By this TLV, PEB notifies PEA the bandwidth of the link. So PEA can know the available bandwidth.

  7. solution • The values of Bandwidth Unit are specified below: • 0x01 bps • 0x02 Kbps • 0x03 Mbps • 0x04 Gbps • The actually bandwidth equals to the value of “bandwidth” multipling “bandwidth unit”.

  8. Any comment • Next • Which action can PEA take, when it receives the notification message about the bandwidth? • Can PEA dynamic adjust the bandwidth to 100M? • Are there need to notify SWA, which manner?
