Follow-Up Feb MtgAction Item # 1 • Collaborate with IL Dept of Human Services, Title X FP Program and Bureau of Community Nursing to work with FP sites will Tx Timeliness rates below the goal. • Tx Timeliness data is forwarded quarterly to: • Individual FP agencies • IDHS Title X FP Program • Bureau of Community Nursing • Nurses contact sites with rates below the set goal • A corrective action plan is developed for sites below the goal
Action Item # 2 • Collaborate with Chicago Dept of Public Health, STD Program to implement the use of INEDSS to document date of treatment • IDPH and CDPH STD initiated the use of INEDSS Feb 2010 • Treatment info and dates are entered into INEDSS
Action Item # 3 Discussing the feasibility of developing an export procedure to download date of treatment information from Chicago Department of Public Health STD and Family Planning Clinics medical records stored in Cerner Data Systems into INEDSS
Action Item # 4 • Continue to monitor IDPH Lab turnaround time to identify CT/GC lab submitters with higher than average TAT. • The IDPH Labs monitors TAT for submitters on a quarterly basis • Target: 98% of specimens tested within 4 business days (Last quarter=99.6%) • Sites are with long delays are contacted, barriers and resolutions are discussed to decrease TAT. • Most common cause of delays: improper or unsatisfactory specimen submission
Action Item # 5 • Working with Family Planning and SBHCs in Chicago to become INEDSS providers so that date of treatment can be captured and Tx timeliness can be monitored. • The IDHS School Based Health program sent an email to all SBHCs encouraging them to become INEDSS providers • 5 SBHCs have become INEDSS provider (1-Chicago and 4 downstate) • All Illinois Planned Parenthood Clinics will enter their own cases into INEDSS
Action Item # 6 • Review the top 10 chlamydia case reporters and review their Tx timeliness data to ensure timely treatment. If rates are low, contact them and discuss barriers and resolutions. • 7 of 10 highest CT case reporters are FP clinics • 3 of 10 are STD clinics • FP and STD clinics are monitored quarterly • Continue to work with highest volume reporters to have largest impact • Work with low volume/performing reporters also
Action Item # 7 • Contact the IDPH laboratories and request a list of submitters receiving results by mail and discuss receiving results by Fax to improve TAT. • IDPH Labs sent list of submitters receiving results by mail to IDPH STD Section • IDPH STD staff contacted each site to determine if they wanted to receive results by fax • Some sites do not have a reliable fax machine • Many sites were converted to receiving results by fax
Action Item # 8 • Contact Great Lakes Naval Base to discuss the Tx timeliness rates and identify strategies to improve rates. • 2009 Tx timeliness data was forwarded to Great Lakes • Follow up discussion with Great Lakes staff: • on barriers to timely treatment • Great Lakes Staff are working on an action plan to increase the 14 day Tx rate
