Value: 5 pts. eachPart III-choose 1 out of 3 topics to write on for long answer (familiar essay) on The Memory Keeper’s Daughter value: 20 pts.Part IV-10 multiple choice questions on Hamlet value: 10 ptsPart V-choose 7 out of 20 short answer questions on Hamlet value: 5 pts. EachPart VI- choose 3 out of 7 quotes on Hamlet (identify the speaker, give the context, explain the dramatic importance to the plot) value: 5 pts. EachPart VII-MLA essay (You have the opportunity to write this essay at home and bring it in to attach to your exam. It must follow the MLA guidelines. You may include quotes to support your ideas.) Value: 30 pts. To study for The Memory Keeper’s Daughter:Study your notes and questions on the novel. Most questions on the exam are opinion questions that deal with issues raised in the novel.You should also know the characters and the narrators of the novel. The essay (or long answer question) is in the format of a cause and effect essay or persuasive essay. Review your notes on the framework of these writing styles. To study for Hamlet:Know the characters and the plotline.Know literary terms/devices such as: façade, prose, free verse, blank verse, tragedy, satire, couplet, types of irony, aside, soliloquy, puns, foil, motif, misogyny, hero & villain. Supernatural , insanity,& suicide as motifs in the play.Mystery or morality plays (drama notes)Elizabethan Tragedies (drama notes)Senecan Tragedies (drama notes)Tragic Hero (hand out)Stock characters (clowns)Seven Deadly SinsYour take-home essay question is as follows:Hamlet is an example of an Elizabethan Revenge Tragedy. Identify and explain the characteristics of Elizabethan Revenge Tragedy, then discuss whether they apply to Hamlet.
