MOTION what is it? what do you know?  When an object keeps on changing its position with time it is said to be motion.Types of motion (i) Linear: Also called straight motion in which the object travels in a straight line. (ii) Circular motion: The object travels along a circular path (iii) Curvilinear motion: The object moves along a curve.

  4. VELOCITY what is it? what do you know about it? it is the quantity of displacement taken place by an object in unit time. velocity= displacement/time taken symbolically, v= s/t v=m/s v=ms-1 is the SI unit of velocity. it is a vector quantity

  5. SPEED what is it? what do you know about it? It is a distance moved by an ob ject in a unit time is called speed .• Speed helps us to decide which ob ject is moving faster than other .• T he basic unit of speed is meter per second (m/sec) .• Speed of ob ject = distance travelled/ time taken  T ypes of speed: (i) Uniform speed: Ob ject travels a fixed distance on same time gap (ii) Non-uniform speed: Ob ject covers different distance in different time gaps (iii) Average speed: T otal distance is divided by total time taken by ob ject.

The motion of a pendulum in to and from is called as oscillatory motion .→ Time period of a pendulum: The time taken by a pendulum bob to complete one oscillation is called its time period. Units to measure time speed Speed = distance/time (m/s) → Speedometer: It is a device which is used to measure the speed in kilometer per hour. → Odometer: The device which is used to measure the distance travelled by a vehicle in meters or kilometers.

  10. THE FASTEST SPEED OF A HUMAN BEING IS 40KM/H. CONVERT THIS M/S(STANDARD FORM) 1 Km = 1000m 40 Km = 40 * 1000= 40,000 m 1h = 60 m 1 m=60 sec so, 1h =60 * 60= 3600 sec so, 40 km/1 hour= 40,000 m/3600 sec = 100/9 =11.11 m/sec
