Warsaw- the capital city • Since XVII century Warsaw with population nowadays more than 2 million people has been the capital city of Poland. • Although there are only few underground stations and enormous traffic jams it is still interesting place to visit especially for numerous museums and historical places

  3. History of Poland • Poland has a very rich history just because we are in the middle of Europe. • The most famous Poles are our pope Jan Paul II , Lech Walesa the winner of the Noble Peace Price. • For 123 years Poland disappeared from the mapof Europe. It was divided by Russia, Austria and Prussia.

  4. President of Poland • President of Poland is Bronisław Komorowski. • Poland is a democracy, with a president as a head of state, whose current constitution dates from 1997. The government structure centers on the Council of Ministers, led by a prime minister. The president appoints the cabinet according to the proposals of the prime minister, typically from the majority coalition in the Sejm.

  6. The coat of arms of Olsztyn is St.Jacob. The figure of the apostle is wearing a long robe to the feet, In Olsztyn there are a lot of places named after this noble man. He simbolisesthefarmland of thearea and theplentitude of lakes.

  8. The entrance to the town was guarded by two gate towers situated opposite each other, one from north and the other from the south. One of those is the preserved Higher Gate Tower.

  9. The most beautiful church in Olsztyn is the church of Christ’s Heart.

  10. In front of the castle there is amonument of Nicolaus Copernicus- founder of the heliocentric theory.

  11. For many, however, Olsztyn will remain the popular capital of Warmia and Mazury- the paradise for lovers of walks through the forest, fishing, swimming and sailing.
