  1. John 8:21-37 My Word Has No Place In You!

  2. Though favored • They had no place for His Word. • John 1:11-12; Acts 13:46 “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:11, 12) • Many today • Like the Jews • Are filled with prejudice and opinion.

  3. Why Should It Have a Place? • Because of Jesus authority • “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.’” {Matthew 28:18} • They were commanded to hear Him • “While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!’” {Matthew 17:5}

  4. Why Should It Have a Place? • Jesus’ words are life. • “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” {John 6:63} • We will be judged by His words. • “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” {John 12:48}

  5. What Place Should the Word Have? • A permanent place in our hearts • “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” {Luke 8:15} • A place of reverence and respect • “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.” {Proverbs 13:3}

  6. What Place Should the Word Have? • A place of love • “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” {Psalm 119:97} • A place of authority • Christ’s law is THE authoritative law in religious doctrine and practice. • “And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” {Matthew 15:9}

  7. Why Does Christ’s Word Not Have a Place? • Worldly Pleasure • “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” {1 John 2:15-17}

  8. Why Does Christ’s Word Not Have a Place? • Desire for worldly gain • “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.” {Matthew 13:22}

  9. Why Does Christ’s Word Not Have a Place? • Sin in various forms • “Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries.” {2 Peter 2:9,10}

  10. Why DoesChrist’s WordNot Have a Place? “My Word has no place in you” Before the Word can dwell within us, we must cleanse our minds of evil. “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”{Matthew 12:30}

  11. What Is the Condition of Those Who Reject? “My Word has no place in you” • Deeper in sin • James 4:17 • May never be able to repent • Hebrews 3:8-9, 15 • Turns further away from God • 2 Timothy 4:1-4; Hebrews 3:12-14

  12. What Is the Condition of Those Who Reject? “My Word has no place in you” “In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” {2 Thessalonians 1:8}

  13. Romans 10:17 John 8:24 Acts 17:30 Romans 10:9,10 Acts 2:38 Alien Sinner
