The Evolution of Accounting in the Future: Challenges and Opportunities

Accounting is a social science that must adapt to societal needs. New technologies and media bring both challenges and opportunities. The governance model of firms needs reevaluation, focusing on human capital ownership rights. The new economy requires accounting to address wealth creation dynamics and intellectual capital. The introduction of new technologies in information delivery prompts accountants to rethink their roles. Accounting faces challenges like globalisation and weak conceptual bases but has historically responded well.
