  2. WP 1 - Current situation and future trends in biomass fuel trade in Europe • Current techno-economic biomass volume in Europe • economically and technically viable volume of solid biomass fuels • Both raw material and bioenergy needs are taken into account (CEPI & AEBIOM involved). • Biomass fuel market and prices, export and import of biomass fuels • Biomass fuels technical specification CEN/TS 14961– analysis of the experiences within traders • Subcontractors from Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Czech Rep. • Deliverables • National reports • Listing of the key biomass fuel traders in Europe • Summary report of the Biomass fuel market situation in Europe • Feedback report on CEN biofuel standardisation usability in biomass trade • WP co-ordinator: VTT EIE065-EUBIONET II – www.eubionet.net

  3. WP 2 - Business models for biofuel supply chains for heat and power production • 30 different methods will be analysed • raw material availability for selected plants • technology used and main technology providers • description of the fuel supply method from raw material purchase to delivery to end-user including logistics • business organisation model description including staff requirements • analysis of production costs in different phases and pricing of fuels • contracting and agreements with operators and end-users, marketing of fuels • information on fuel quality and control of fuel quality • Deliverables • Fact sheets of each supply chain • List of technology providers • Guidelines for selection of different biomass business models for different fuels and end-users • WP co-ordinator: VTT EIE065-EUBIONET II – www.eubionet.net

  4. WP 3 - Implications of the EU legislation for biomass markets in different countries • How and when will the various European directives linked to biomass and waste and how will the existing framework and legislation change because of these implementations? • What are or have been the underlying drivers for the chosen existing incentives and (financial) compensation framework for biomass and waste? • What are the present definitions for biomass • What are the emission levels for the found specific biomass-technology combinations • What are the various compensations schemes and penalties for the found categories? • Deliverables • Summary report of the national findings on implications of the EU legislation for biomass markets in participating countries • 2 workshops organised • WP co-ordinator: Senter Novem EIE065-EUBIONET II – www.eubionet.net

  5. WP 4 - Dissemination and co-operation • Web site (www.eubionet.net) and links to other European bioenergy webpages • Promotion material of the project (brochure and 4 flyers) • 10 published articles in leading bioenergy journals or papers presented at conferences • Three international events (proceedings and feedback), • two of them in the form of a parallel/additional workshops within two international events, and • the third one in Brussels in 2007 • CEPI will disseminate project results in the CEPI Focus and European Pulp and Paper event in 2007 • 5 study tours on biomass production and use or trading will be organised and feedback collected • Virtual training material on web from wood fuel supply chains • WP co-ordinator: AEBIOM EIE065-EUBIONET II – www.eubionet.net
