  1. Transport foldable Fold 3 pieces of paper so you have 5 flaps and write Cell Transport on the top flap as a title

  2. Write Passive Transport flap 2 • Write: Passive transport is movement of molecules without energy across a membrane from a high to a low concentration. • Write :Examples • Write the definition of Diffusion under the word example movement of anything from a high to a low concentration. • Cut out and label and glue down the examples of diffusion Color the area of high concentration red leave low concentration white.

  3. Write Examples on Flap 3 • Diffusion-movement of anything from a high to a low concentration. Cut out and glue down the picture.. Color the area of high concentration red leave low concentration white. Red spreads out in each picture. Low High

  4. Flap 3 con’t 2. Osmosis—movement of water high to low concentration • Cut out and glue down the osmosis pictures. Color the area of high concentration red and leave low concentration white. L H L H No change Cell swells Cell shrivels

  5. Flap 3 con’t 3. Facilitative diffusion: Movement of molecules from high to low with transport proteins because the molecules are too big • Cut out and glue down the pictures and color the area of high concentration red and the carrier proteins blue High Concentration Carrier Protein Low Concentration

  6. Write Osmotic Pressure on 4th flap Hypotonic—water moves in cell High Low. Therefore cell swells. Hypertonic—water moves out cell High Low. Therefore cell shrivels. Isotonic—water moves in and out of cell because there is no concentration difference. Therefore cell does not change.

  7. Write Active Transport on 5th flap • Active transport: uses energy to move molecules from area of low concentration to an area of high concentration (against a concentration gradient, uses proteins) On the picture, color the area of high concentration red. Low concentration High concentration

  8. 5th flap con’t • Endocytosis require lots of energy to move particles inside the cell • Exocytosis: requires lots of energy to move particles outside the cell • (Write the definition and cut out the pictures and glue down)

  9. Write : active vs passive on flap 6 • Fill in the venn diagram comparing active and passive transport • Label one circle active and the 2nd circle passive. • Put the following in the correct circle: • Uses energy, no energy, osmosis and diffusion, always uses protein, against a gradient, moves particles from area of high concentration to area of low concentration, moves particles from area of low concentration to area of high concentration, transport of materials across a semi-permeable membrane, ex sodium pump, naturally occuring, with concentration gradient

  10. Flap 6 continued • Write the word high at the top of the flap. Make 1 arrow coming down from the word high, make another arrow going up to the word high. Write the word low at the bottom of the arrows. • Label the correct arrows :active, energy, passive no energy.
