  21. In French, there are 3 different words for MY -mon,maandmes. You will know which one to use depending on the gender of the person or thing that you are talking about: e.g. Mon frère my brother Ma soeur my sister Mes parents my parents

  22. Mon is used when the noun is masculine. Mais used when the noun is feminine. Mesis used when the noun isplural. e.g. Mon livre my book Ma trousse my pencilcase Mes affaires my things

  23. mon ma mes ma mon mes ma mon Now try these examples. Fill in the blanks with the correct word for MY (mon/ma/mes) 1. .......... père. 2. .......... mère. 3. .......... cousins. 4. .......... tante. 5. .......... oncle. 6. .......... grands-parents. 7. .......... nièce. 8. .......... mari. Now check your answers.

  24. Did you get 8 out of 8? So far it’s easy peasy, isn’t it? The hardest part is knowing the gender of each noun, but remember, the plurals are easy to spot, just look for nouns ending in –s!

  25. Just to clarify…The possessive adjective always agrees with the NOUN, not the person that it belongs to. In other words, a man would say monlivre, and a woman would also say monlivre because the book is masculine (lelivre). Likewise, both men and women would say matrousse, because pencilcase is feminine in French - it doesn't matter whether the owner of the pencilcase is male or female.
