  3. Experience • Graduated from University of Hawai’i at Manoa • BS in Biology • MEdT in Secondary Education • High School Physical Science and Biology • 8th year at Maywood Middle School!

  4. My goal in this classroom is to facilitate the practice and application of science and engineering skills as it pertains to real life problem solving, while hopefully instilling a life long love for the field of science.

  9. Daily Expectations • Write HW into Planner daily • Complete pre-labs, data collection, reflections in journal

  10. Assessments & Grades • Grades are heavily weighted on assessments • 50% Tests/Lab Practical's/Projects • 35% Labs/Case Studies • 15% Formative & Journal • Quiz Corrections • Must be done during Charger Time within one week of scores being released

  11. Late Work • Responsibility Report required on due date • 10% Deduction for any late work • No Late Work accepted after unit exam or 1 week before the grading period ends

  12. Absences • Call the office by 8:00am • Check class site for HW or request from the office for pick-up • Turn-in time = days absent • If absent for more than 3 days, talk with Teacher for deadlines

  13. What You Can Do • Encourage Students to: • Be on time with necessary supplies • Start assessments early to get teacher feedback before it’s due • Always ask questions • Look at exemplars whenever available • Review notes nightly • Take advantage of after school tutoring

  15. Requesting Help • After School Help • Mon - Thurs after school until 3:30 pm • 24 hr notice appreciated • Email • Students may send specific questions through email • Responses usually within 1 business day
