  1. Understanding The Margarita - Mytinni The Margarita is a classic cocktail that is widely believed to have originated from the 1950's. Margarita as a word means Daisy. Interestingly the American name Daisy was at its most popular in the 30's & 40's, which gives reason to why when the Margarita was annointed in December '53 by Esquire Magazine, there were plenty of Daisy's around to drink it. However not that many are aware of the real history of the Margarita. The recipe we know today (of 1/4 Lime, 1/4 Triple Sec & 1/2 Tequila) is an exact replica of cocktail that predates the margarita by 16 years - The Picador. First mentioned in the 1937 "Cafe Royal Cocktail Book" by British Author William J. Tarling, we realise that the margarita is actually British!
