  2. What are we about? • Mission: To work in partnership with youth, people who work with youth, community residents, public policymakers and program administrators to help urban adolescents develop healthy adult lifestyle

  3. How We Do Our Work • Community Based Participatory Research

  4. PRC Guiding Principle: Public Health & Community Partnerships • Create and foster partnerships among public health and community organizations to address health promotion and disease prevention issues. • Respect the values and priorities of public health and community partners. • Encourage public health and community partners to participate in shaping, promoting, and evaluating research priorities.

  5. PRC Guiding Principle: Public Health & Community Partnerships • Conduct, interpret, and disseminate research in partnership with public health professionals and community members. • Collaborate with partners to build local capacity and resources that can sustain interventions after studies are completed.

  6. How to accomplish our mission: Healthy Transitions to Adulthood In Baltimore? • Our target constituency is “people who work with young people in Baltimore” • Our goal: to help them accomplish our vision • Need to identify, reach out, & build “productive and long term” collaborations with representatives of this constituency

  7. Community Advisory Board • Composed of people who work with young people • Ensures that the Center’s activities coincide with the need of the community • Guides development of issue briefs, workshops & other materials for community based youth serving professionals

  8. What we do • Collaborate with the local community to conduct participatory research that advances adolescent health development • Evaluate youth programs • Provide training in adolescent health issues in the community • Ensure that research results are available for practical application in the community • Advance policies that promote adolescent health
