Definition • A thread like linter strand of DAN and associated proteins in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells that carries genes and functions in the transmission of hereditary information; chromosomes occur in pairs in all of the cells of eukaryotes except reproductive cells. • A circular strand of DNA in bacteria that contains the hereditary information of the cells.
