  1. THE PALMAS ACADEMY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION The Palmas Academy is committed to maintaining a diverse student population in an exciting learning environment. The Academy welcomes applications for admissions from children of all race, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. Admissions decisions are based on academic achievement, satisfactory record of conduct, recommendations for admissions and space availability. The Palmas Academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, CADIE, and authorized by the Puerto Rico General Council of Education. ELEMENTARY DIVISON (PRE-KINDER TO GRADE 5) 1.Completed Application ($100.00) / Placement Test. 2.Psychometric Evaluation (Kinder to Grade 3), Psycho-educational evaluation (Grade 4 to Grade 6). Evaluation must include observations and recommendations plus additional testing if necessary. 3.Personal interview/orientation with Admissions Director. 4.Transcript from previous school (Grades 2 to 5). 5.Letter of Recommendation – Principal / Counselor / Teacher (Grades 2 to 5). 6.Letter from Business Office indicating good payment standing. 7.Copy of Birth Certificate. 8.Copy of Social Security Card. (Only for official purposes according to Law #186 of September 1, 2006) 9.Immunization Record (PVAC-3) / Student Health Record. 10.Hearing and Eye Test (Pre-K to 3). 11.Pre-K (it is required that the student be toilet trained). *REQUIRED AGE FOR KINDERGARTEN IS 5 YEARS BY NOV. 30th. PSYCHOMETRIC EVALUATION REQUIRED FOR PRE-K STUDENTS BEEN PROMOTED TO KINDERGARTEN. SECONDARY DIVISION (GRADE 6 TO 12th) 1.Completed application ($100.00) / Placement Test. 2.*Psycho-educational evaluation form (Grade 6). Evaluation must include observations and recommendations plus additional testing if necessary. 3.Transcripts form previous school (2 years minimum). 4.Personal interview/orientation with Admissions Director. 5.Letter of recommendation from the Principal / Counselor / Teacher. 6.Letter from Business Office indicating good payment standing. 7.Copy of Birth Certificate. 8.Copy of Social Security Card. (Only for official purposes according to Law #186 of September 1, 2006). 9.Immunization Record PVAC-3) / Student Health Record. *If a student has been suspended from a previous school, was not promoted from a grade level, has low grades, obtained a below average score in the admission test or has a previously diagnosed learning disability, a complete psycho-educational evaluation is required prior to being considered for admission. *The Palmas Academy reserves the right to deny admissions.
