HERTFORDSHIRE HEADTEACHER PARTNERSHIP CONFERENCE Tackling Domestic Abuse in Hertfordshire
Domestic Abuse Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults, aged 18 and over, who are or have been intimate partners or family members.
National Context • 1 In 4 more women will have experienced Domestic Abuse. • Highest level of repeat victimisation. • On average before report there will have been 30 previous incidents.
Local Context(2010/11) • 3868 Domestic Abuse crimes (includes 3047 violent crimes) • 7854 Domestic Abuse incidents • Total 11722 Domestic Abuse crimes or incidents. • 3000 households where children were present.
Links to behaviour • 28% of Children being dealt with by Youth Offending Team have recorded links to Domestic Abuse households. • 25% of excluded children have recorded links to domestic abuse households.
