  1. 3 similarities and 3 differences between photosynthesis and respiration

  2. Objectives E – Define keywords C – Describe overall process of respiration A – Explain in full respiration and the stages of both anaerobic and aerobic respiration

  3. Glycolysis - Oxidation Glucose ADP NAD ATP NADH Pyruvate

  4. Krebs cycle • 3 molecules NADH and FADH2 produced • Electron transfer chain • High energy electrons brought in from glycolysis • H+ + 1/2O2 + 2e- • 38 molecules ATP

  5. Fermentation • Anaerobic respiration • Occurs when oxygen is limited

  6. NAD is oxidised • Hydrogen combines with pyruvate • Forming :- lactate in animals ethanol in plants / fungi

  7. Glycolysis can continue… • Producing some ATP • Forming 2 ATP per glucose molecule • Compared with 38 ATP per glucose molecule with aerobic respiration
