DC Approves 11 Proposals For Mining Minor Mineral In Kishtwar KISHTWAR, Oct 13: District Committee for approving plans for mining minor minerals today approved 11 proposals at its meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav. Besides minor mineral mining plans, the meeting also gave nod to Progressive Mine Closure plan for minor blocks. The meeting was attended by all members of the Mining Plan Approval Committee including ADDC, Sham Lal; Deputy Director (Jammu), Geology and Mining Department (Member Secretary), Dr Raj Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Development, Atul Dutt Sharma; District Mineral Officer, Dr. Brijesh Manhas and ExEn I&FC, Ajay Talwar.

BSF Shoots Down Pakistani Drone Along International Border in Punjab Gurdaspur (Punjab), Oct 14: Border Security Force (BSF) troops shot down a drone that entered India in Punjab’s Gurdaspur sector from the Pakistan side on the International Border in the early hours of Friday. A senior BSF officer said that the drone was spotted at 4.35 am by BSF troops on patrolling duty. They immediately opened fire and it was shot down. According to the BSF official, a massive search operation has been launched in the area to determine whether the drone has dropped any consignment in the area.A search operation is underway under the supervision of BSF DIG. It is suspected that the drone was carrying a consignment from Pakistan.

Five killed, Including Police Officer, In North Carolina Shooting; Suspect ‘Contained’ RALEIGH, N.C., OCTOBER 14: A North Carolina mayor announced that five people, including a police officer, were killed in a shooting in a residential area. Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin told reporters that multiple people were shot on the Neuse River Greenway around 5 p.m., and that the police department told her around 8 p.m. that the suspect had been “contained” at a residence in the area. Numerous police vehicles and multiple ambulances had swarmed the Hedingham neighborhood starting in the late afternoon, and officers remained in place for hours during an apparent manhunt. Details of what happened remained scant by early evening.“State and local officers are on the ground and working to stop the shooter and keep people safe,” Gov. Roy Cooper had tweeted shortly before 7 p.m.

JERC Revises Power Tariff From Third Quarter Of Current Financial Year JAMMU, OCTOBER 13: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) for Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has revised the power tariff from the third quarter of current financial year and it will be effective from 1st October 2022. In this regard, an order issued by the Commission states that the new tariff has been designed in such a way so as to ensure minimum inconvenience to the citizens, while at the same time protecting the interests of the domestic, commercial, agricultural and industrial sectors. The order adds that the average overall nominal increase over the previous tariff last revised in 2016-17 is just 8%, whereas the inflation rate in the corresponding period is 24% (the CPI Combined: All India General Index (All Groups) has risen from 131.1 in April 2017 to 162.5 in July 2022), thus it being safe to say that there is an effective decrease in tariff by 16% (adjusted for inflation).

Govt Orders Premature Retirement of 36 Police Personnel For Involvement In Corruption, Underperformance And Anti-Social Activities SRINAGAR, October 13: In its endeavor to make Police department more efficient and transparent, the Government today prematurely retired 36 police personnel on charges of their involvement in corruption and criminal activities. These personnel conducted their duties in ways which were unbecoming of public servants& in violation of the established code of conduct. The exercise was conducted as part of regular process of scrutiny of records of officials, who cross benchmarks of age/service period in terms of Article 226(2) of J&K CSRs. These employees were found involved in illegal activities, remained unauthorizedly absent from duties for a considerable period, underperformed, penalized in departmental enquiries and some of them found involved in corruption cases, facing serious criminal charges, and had doubtful integrity.As per the recommendations of the Review Committee, the performance of these employees was found non-satisfactory and their continuation in the Government service was found against the public interest.
