  2. World Autism Awareness Day is observed on April 2nd every year to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to promote inclusion and acceptance of individuals with ASD. This day aims to spread awareness about the signs and symptoms of autism, dispel myths and stereotypes, and educate the public about the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. ASD is a neurological disorder that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior. It is a lifelong condition that can vary in severity and impact individuals differently. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 1 in 160 children worldwide has an ASD. The prevalence of ASD is increasing globally, and early detection and intervention are critical to ensure that individuals with ASD can reach their full potential. World Autism Awareness Day was first observed in 2008, following a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2007. The resolution recognized that autism is a growing global health issue and called for greater awareness and understanding of the condition. Every year, World Autism Awareness Day is marked by various events and activities, including awareness campaigns, educational programs, and fundraising events. These events aim to promote acceptance and inclusion of individuals with autism and to raise funds for research and support services. The theme for World Autism Awareness Day changes every year, with the aim of raising awareness about various issues related to autism. In 2021, the theme was "Inclusion in the Workplace: Challenges and Opportunities in a Post-Pandemic World." The theme highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with autism and their families, and the importance of creating inclusive workplaces that support the unique needs of individuals with autism. In conclusion, World Autism Awareness Day is an important event that aims to raise awareness about autism, promote inclusion and acceptance of individuals with ASD, and support research and support services. By promoting understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism, we can create a more inclusive and supportive society that values diversity and celebrates the unique abilities of all individuals.
