This tradition originated in Bengal, India, in the 16th century, and it is based on the teachings of Lord Chaitanya, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna. The worship of Gaura Nitai involves devotion, prayer, and chanting of the holy names of God. The main objective of this practice is to develop a loving relationship with God and to attain spiritual enlightenment. In this article, we will explore the significance of Gaura Nitai and their worship in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition. The Appearance of Gaura Nitai Gaura Nitai are depicted as two young boys, one with a golden complexion (Gaura) and the other with a dark complexion (Nitai). They are usually shown standing side by side, holding hands, and sometimes even embracing each other. The golden complexion of Gaura represents the divine feminine aspect of God, while the dark complexion of Nitai represents the divine masculine aspect.
