University of South FloridaEmergency Medicine • Our History: • TGH requested the creation of a program August 2001 • USF GME unanimously approved the idea • Team Health agreed to partnership • RRC application submitted December 2001 • Application approved on first submission! • First class of residents graduated June 2006

Mission Statement To provide each resident with the knowledge base, clinical experience, and value set to successfully complete the training program, to pass the board examination, to provide compassionate, high quality patient care, and to positively impact the development and direction of emergency medicine.

  10. EM 1 Adult EM (3 mo.) Pediatric EM Medicine or EM selective Trauma (ED based) Orthopedics (ED based) Anesthesia / Ophtho Neurosciences selective CCU MICU OB GYN Rotations

EM 1 Orientation Month • All interns are in the ED for July • ATLS, ACLS, PALS end of June • US course • Introduction to core applications • Start saving images for credentialing immediately • Other topics are worked into GR every 2 months • Lectures • Nursing shifts • Clinical shifts • Start seeing sick patients immediately!

  12. Trauma Room • Trauma alerts • Run by the EM program with trauma surgery back up if needed • Trauma activations • Run by EM and trauma surgery programs • A shared responsibility • Airways managed by EM program
