  4. Biotic factors & Abiotic factors • Biotic factors All the living part of an ecosystem(Plants, Animals). Ex) - Dune lilly, Lake huron tansy - beach grass, Marram grass - Ring-billed gull, Eastern box turtle - Piping plover • Abiotic factors All of the nonliving parts of an ecosystem. Ex) - Sands - Waters - Climates

  5. Organisms • Definition: Any individual living things. Ex) –Piping plover/ Lives in Michigan in the Eastern upper peninsula and Northern lower Michigan along the coasts -Red fox -Grama grass -Pitcher's Thistle Pitcher’s Thistle

  6. Population • Definition: A group of organisms of the same species living in the same area. All the same organisms. Ex) Group of piping plovers living in open sand beaches and rocky shores.

  7. Community • Definition: A group of different populations that live together and interact in an environment. All the biotic factors. Ex) Piping plovers, Red foxes, Pitcher’s thistles, Milkweeds live in Michigan Perched dune.

  8. Ecosystem • Definition: All the living and nonliving things in an area that interact with each other. Biotic + Abiotic factors together. Ex) Michigan perched dune Michigan parabolic dune
