Opening a Word Outline as a Presentation • Outlines prepared in Word can be imported into PowerPoint • Using heading styles in the Word document ensures the content will be unified • Each Heading 1 style becomes the title on the slide. • Each Heading 2 style becomes the main text on the slide. • Content from the saved Word document can be imported to create slides. Skill 2.1
Opening a Word Outline as a Presentation To insert slides from a Word outline: • Click in the presentation at desired insertion point. • On the Home tab, click the New Slide button arrow and select Slides from Outline… • Click the desired file. • Click the Insert button. Skill 2.1
Using the Outline View The Outline view can be used to enter and edit text directly in the outline. To use Outline view: • Click the View tab. • Click the Outline View button. • In the outline, click the text to be changed. • Type the new text. Skill 2.2
Using Copy and Paste To copy text and paste it into the same presentation • Select text to be copied. • On the Home tab, click the Copy button. • Place cursor in desired position. • On the Home tab, click the Paste button. Skill 2.3
Using Cut and Paste To cut text and paste it into the same presentation • Select text to be copied. • On the Home tab, click the Cut button. • Place cursor in desired position. • On the Home tab, click the Paste button. Skill 2.4
Using the Office Clipboard To past an item from the Clipboard into a presentation: • Place cursor in desired position. • On the Home tab, click the Clipboard dialog launcher. • Click desired item to paste. Skill 2.5
Adding Bulleted Lists Bulleted lists are used to organize information that have to be displayed in a particular order. To add a bulleted list to a slide: • Select the text to be bulleted. • On the Home tab, click the Bullets button arrow. • Select a bullet style. Skill 2.6
Adding Numbered Lists Numbered lists are used to organize information that must be displayed in a particular order. To add a numbered list to a slide: • Select the text to be numbered. • On the Home tab, click the Numbering button arrow. • Select a numbering style. Skill 2.7
Adding WordArt To add WordArt to slides: • Click the Insert tab. • Click the WordArt button and select a style. • Begin typing to replace the text “Your Text Here” with the text desired text. Skill 2.8
Understanding the Content Placeholder The content placeholder offers a quick way to add text, graphics, charts and other content to a presentation. To add content to a slide through the content placeholder: • Click the icon of the type of content to be added. • Add the content. Skill 2.9
Creating Tables in Presentations • Table organizes information for effective display. • Rows display information horizontally. • Columns display information vertically. • Intersection of a row and a column is a cell. Skill 2.10
Creating Tables in Presentations To add a table to a slide: • On the Insert tab, click the Table button. • Select the number of rows and columns. • Type data in desired cell. • Press [Tab] to move to next cell. Skill 2.10
Adding Charts To add a chart to a slide: • On the Insert tab, click the Add a Chart button. • Click a chart type category • Click a chart type. • Click OK. Skill 2.11
Adding Charts • The Chart in Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box opens. • Replace the sample data. • Click the Close button. Skill 2.11

Adding Shapes To add a shape to a slide: • Click the Insert tab. • Click the Shapes button and select an option. • Click anywhere on the presentation to add the shape. Skill 2.13
Adding Pictures To insert a picture from a file: • Click the Insert tab. • Click the Pictures button. • Navigate to the file location. • Select file, and click Insert. Skill 2.14
Adding Online Pictures • New feature in PowerPoint 2013 that offers the ability to add online pictures. • Pictures can be searched from Office.com Clip Art, through a Bing Image Search, or from a Sky Drive Account. • Clips refer to Microsoft Office’s royalty-free clip art collection. • Bing Image Search results may include images that are not royalty free.
