Computer Science Teacher Education • found as a major subject in 1992 • required minor subjects in degree were educational studies and mathematics • new study requirements in 2000 • more practical studies for becoming teachers • possibility to choose second minor subject more freely • own study requirements for those who prefer more to work in adult education or in business consulting

First full time employee were hired to develop the studyline First own master course about virtual learning environments Collaboration with the local Virtual University project started Since 2002 we have been the biggest computer science teacher educator in Finland Turning point – year 2001 University of Helsinki closed theis CS teacher education studyline at the Spring 2005.

Teacher education today • Three own master courses about pedagogics in teaching CS, virtual learning environments and web course design • One bachelor course about tools and techniques in teaching CS • Teaching bases on newest high quality university level researches • New pedagogical models and scripts have been adopted to teaching and learning • Amount of students is growing; more than 20 students passing every course
