Publicty/Swissness - Fire safety project Swiss partner’s – the Institution of Fire Safety and Natural Disasters Prevention - knowledge exchange visit to Latvia, in Salacgriva District, from 13 till 17 May 2013 The winners of the competition for school children visited Switzerland in August, 2013.

  21. 4.2. Publicity/Swissness -Modernization of courts High visibility Annual meeting of Appellate Courts' presidents and Chief Prosecutors of EU capital cities in Riga on 24-25 October 2013 Pan-Baltic seminar in the area of court modernization in Jurmala, in August 2013

Publicty/Swissness -Sarkandaugava project • On 3 April 2013 Environmental Engineering students from Switzerland visited site of remediation works with the aim to gain practical experience in Sarkandaugava historically polluted sites. • On 31 July 2013 Federal Councillor of Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland visited Sarkandaugava project on implementation site.

Publicty/Swissness – Swiss researchers’ activities Swiss researchers’ visits to Latvia enhanced bilateral relationships: • positive feedback from Swiss researchers received • further cooperation developed «outside the project» Roland Seiler, University of Bern, Institute of Sport Science, lectured in Latvia from 13-25 April, 2013

  25. 4.6. Publicty/Swissness – Microlendingprogramme A short film about the Microlending programme was produced and presented in the Swiss Annual Conference in May, 2013. The presentation and film was received very well – as a result the Swiss delegation visited few micro businesses on site in September 2013.

  26. 4.7. Publicty/Swissness – Balticretreat Latvian NCU participated inthe annual Swiss Contribution Workshop/ Baltic retreat During Baltic retreat SwissEmbassyinitiated new activity – production ofaudio-visualmaterial. Lithuania, 5-6 September, 2013

Overallconclusions Overall progress – successful because: target indicators of projects are even overreached: • Modernization of courts project’s results – overreached for 30% (additional equipment units installed) • 12 extra subprojects implemented within the NGO fund • for 25% more micro loans allocated within the Microlending programme • 5 extra youth centres will be established within the Youth initiatives project And even additional activities financed: • External research under the NGO fundandModernization of courts project • WEB game within the Fire safety project • Production of video stories and media monitoring within the TAF Extremely good cooperation between in management involved institutions: • Non-eligible expenditures only 0,2% – well below standard materiality level of 2% • day to day communication between involved institutions in all levels

Overallconclusions Successful and even overreached projects’ results have proved significance and great value of the Swiss Programme in terms of: Financial investment in targeted areas Intangible values –mutual knowledge spill-overs and strengthened bilateral relations in various sectors. Continuity of Swiss contribution would be highly appreciated in successfully implemented priority areas
