CNHC - background • 2007- Federal Working Group, chaired by Professor Dame Joan Higgins - produced a report on the future of how a federal regulatory body might look • 2007 December: 9 lay members appointed, through an application and interview process, to CNHC’s Federal Regulatory Council 3.180708

CNHC - the FRB • January - new Federal Regulatory Council met for the first time - re-named Federal Regulatory Board (FRB) - the strategic/policy making body of the FRC • Lay members; Angela Deacon; Kay Dixon; Maggie Dunn; Jenny Gordon; Gillie Jordan; Anne Sultoon; Dimitri Varsamis and Maggy Wallace 4.050808

  10. Key challenges… continued • Set up Practice Advisory Panel • Made up of 1 practitioner from each practice, selected by PSBs • 3 observer seats on each FRB meeting • FRB to take account of views expressed by PAP 10.180708

  11. ‘Selling’ the concept: advantages - 1 • A single point of contact for the public • Economies of scale, potential to keep costs down for practitioners • Rationalisation of standards but with a range of approaches 11.180708
